Title: Quête de sens et coexistence : La formation en éthique et culture religieuse dans le curriculum. Le cas du Québec (Canada)

Contributer/s: Nancy Bouchard

Abstract :  From the reform of Québec's (Canada) education system, a question still remains: What are the place and form that must be taken by the ethical and religious culture education in the scholar curriculum? In this presentation, I will report on the situation that currently prevails in Québec's education context, after which I'll propose an orientation that, to my mind, must be taken to ensure an ethical education (Bouchard, 2004; Giroux, 1997) that takes into consideration: the search of the subject/student sense and the plurality of the visions of the world, and also the necessity to educate to the coexistence (Bouchard, Larouche & al., 2003) ─ coexistence which must come from the perspective of mutual recognition of persons and groups (Jean-Marc Ferry, 1996). Thus, I propose an ethical and religious culture education in the scholar curriculum as a place to favour a citizenship education which fits in the ethical subject development perspective.
