Title: Who are the learning facilitators?
& Where should they be educated?
Contributer/s: SHINICHI SUZUKI
Abstract
: UNESCO and other international organizations
often refer to the new notion of "learning facilitators". There is a
background philosophy of "four pillars of learning:(1)learning to know,
(2)learning to do,(3)learning to live together, and (4)learning to be".
Against
globalizing cultural contexts which are often complex and contradictory, it is
uregent to supplement the fifth pillar,(5) learning to demonstrate critically.
In this sense, s/he should be a newly defined intellect, if s/he can be a new
learning facilitator to all types of new learners.
Accepting such new definition as this, where
such new intellects should and could be educated and trained? Universities? The
present author would propose to establish a new scheme of learning facilitator
education, called "Place of Memories":an intellectual symbiotic
conglomerate composed regonally and globally. New knowledge base for learning
facilitaors should be developed there.
New
qualifications for them could be institutionally formalized through such
schemes. Certainly there will come some reoraganiztions of higher education
instituions and schools.
