Throughout the ages, 'Het Binnenhof' in The Hague has always been the center of politics in the Netherlands - the place where affairs of state were discussed. Not only are the buildings themselves well worth seeing, but it was here that the most important events in Dutch history took place. Parliament still meets here and, thus, the Binnenhof remains the center of Dutch political life today.

The Mauritshuis, a 17th-century palace in the heart of The Hague, is located next to the government buildings. The museum has a world-famous collection of paintings of Dutch Old Masters including such luminaries of the Golden Age as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Jan Steen and Frans Hals. The exceptional combination of a 17th-century building and a top-notch collection makes this museum one of a kind.
