Romances – Small Pieces for Violin & Piano

In collaboration with The Royal Library in Copenhagen, violinist Karen Humle and pianist Kirsten Beyer Karlshøj have uncovered a number of rare and interesting small Romances for violin and piano.

The main part of the programme will be Danish works written around the turn of the last century. But also more recent examples of the Romance genre in today’s musical idiom will be played at the concert. Thus the young Danish composer Bo Lundby Jæger has written a modern Romance for the Humle/ Karlshøj Duo. Apart from music by Danish composers, the programme includes Romances by Jean Sibelius, Max Reger, and Clara Schumann. The two musicians will introduce the music during the concert.

Karen Humle and Kirsten Beyer Karlshøj formed their duo in 1999 and have performed all over Denmark. They like to expand the classical duo repertoire by including lesser-known works as well as performing new music written especially for them.
